How does government procurement through ADCO typically work?

ADCO routinely reviews RFI’s and Sources Sought notices to determine federal opportunities. Similarly, when an RFQ/RFP is released, we diligently work with our manufacturing partners to determine the best possible product offering at prices that represent the best value to our customers. While we strive to have the largest possible offering available on our various contracts, we understand that the nature of procurement will always require direct purchase opportunities. Whether this includes individual need contracts or open market purchases, ADCO is established and prepared to address these needs.

What role do federal contracts play in compliance and approvals?

Every contract includes its own requirements in regard to both compliance and the awards process. When it comes to compliance, ADCO ensures our product offering and business operations evolve to meet these requirements. This includes changes in cybersecurity, and ADCO has achieved our CMMC Level 1 certification. For contract awards, these are determined by the individual contract terms and any award is at the discretion of the contracting team. Our contracting specialists here at ADCO work to ensure that our offers meet all regulations, terms and conditions.

How do buyers know which contract pathway applies to them?

Depending on which agency you work for, that will initially narrow down the available contracts. Second, looking at the specific product need and the urgency in which it must be obtained will allow you to further refine the options. However, most facilities have preferred procurement methods based on product type and vendor qualifications. Here at ADCO we are always available to provide details and assistance in providing recommendations on the best way to purchase products on contract.

What does a typical purchasing workflow look like once a contract is identified?

This will vary greatly depending on the chosen contract vehicle. For example, if the preferred method is GSA, most buyers opt to use the online purchase method at GSAAdvantage.gov. These orders are then digitally transmitted to us via EDI and shipped same-day when received before 5pm EST Monday through Friday. However, for high-volume medical supplies, the Medical Surgical Prime Vendor program (MSPV) is often the preferred method: orders are placed through the VISN-assigned Prime Vendor and delivered directly to your facility on schedule. What approvals are usually required to purchase through a federal contract?

Every agency/facility has their own internal approval and purchasing protocol. Generally, logistics is involved in the procurement of most products, although there are nuances to the purchase of products depending on how they are purchased and the contract(s) being used.
